Underbite Case Study

A 15 year old male visits the team Auckland Dental Care for another opinion on his severe underbite. Our clients had been previously told jaw surgery was his only option left to correct he underbite. Dr Michael Kan recommended trying a functional orthodontic plate rather than extensive surgery. After four months of treatment you can see a massive improvement without the need for invasive and expensive surgery.

Functional Orthodontics

This advanced procedure involves using removable plates which correct the bite and widen jaws to give you a fuller, more beautiful smile. We can start treatment as early as 7 years old to take advantage of your child’s natural growth. In most cases the teeth don’t need to be removed as the jaws are encouraged to grow with the removable plates, allowing the teeth to fit into the jaws naturally.

Clear Braces

If the steely look of metal brackets are you’re thing, then we can offer you clear brackets that blend in with the natural colour of your teeth so it’s barely noticable.

Air Rotor Recontouring

By recontouring teeth, we can gain extra space for movement in your mouth. This makes aligning the teeth much easier and means that you can keep teeth that might otherwise have to be removed.  No more teeth pulling at Auckland Dental Care!

Lingual Braces (brackets on the inside of you teeth)

Braces placed on the inside of the teeth are the best for minor anterior crowding and have the advantage of being invisible to the people you meet.

Invisalign Braces

The Invisalign process involves the use of thin and clear plastic mouth guards (aligners) to straighten your teeth. These mouth pieces can be taken out for cleaning your teeth and eating as you need to.
